RIVER PARK SQUARE GARAGE FINISHES JULY WITH
YEAR-TO-DATE HIGHEST NUMBERS

Spokane, Wash. – The River Park Square parking garage operator today announced July performance at the parking facility set record-highs for the year.

The garage generated more than $189,000 in gross revenues, made up by the more than 76,000 cars that parked in the facility last month.  Both the number of customers and the dollar amount generated are the highest monthly figures year-to-date and the second-highest monthly figures in the history of the newly renovated downtown parking facility.

These latest figures also continue the impressive upward trend when making same year comparisons (see attached chart).  The more than $189,000 collected July 2001 in gross revenues represents a 12.6 percent increase over July 2000.  The more than 76,000 cars the garage parked in July 2001 is 12.4 percent greater than July 2000.

“We’ve had a fantastic summer with strong traffic at River Park Square and in the parking facility,” said Bob Robideaux, project director for River Park Square.  “High customer generating events, such as the Nordstrom sale and popular summer movie releases at AMC, combined with the host of other downtown summer activity, played key factors in the stellar garage performance last month.”

Robideaux added with the upcoming back-to-school and holiday shopping seasons the upward momentum is expected to continue.

The River Park Square developer recently released its mid-year economic impact to the City of Spokane and its citizens.  Taxes and fees paid by the redeveloped project to the state of Washington, Spokane County and the City of Spokane exceed $21.6 million.  The City of Spokane has directly received over $6.2 million, in which part went to support local schools and the Spokane Transit Authority.

The developer continues to focus on marketing and operations activities that
will generate additional revenue for the parking garage.

River Park Square and surrounding downtown businesses serve a regional market of more than 1.7 million people.  The new retail center has generated more than $6.2 million in tax and fee revenues for the City of Spokane and services located in the City, has created and retained more than 1100 jobs, and has served as a catalyst for downtown revitalization.  Since River Park Square opened, nearly $350 million in new downtown construction projects have been announced or moved forward.
