RIVER PARK SQUARE PARKING GARAGE
REVENUES CONTINUE INCREMENTAL GROWTH

River Park Square garage revenues continued a year-over-year upward trend, finishing the third quarter ahead of the previous year, according to figures released today by the facility’s operators.

Third quarter gross revenue climbed to $527,248, a 1 percent increase over the same three-month period in 2001 when gross revenues totaled $523,086 (see charts on page three).  The total represents an 8 percent increase over 2000’s total of $486,645.

Last month’s car counts slightly bested September 2001 totals while the quarter finished just below last year’s July-September totals, keeping utilization consistent with the retail industry.

According to garage operators, the latest numbers reflect the uncertainty of retail sales since September 11, 2001 and the impact of the current economic recession occurring across the nation.

Current figures did indicate that customers extended their length of stay in downtown, spending an average of $2.47 per stay in the parking garage, up from $2.42 in 2000.

“We continue to be encouraged by the increase in the length of time garage users are staying,” said Bob Robideaux, project director.  “The downtown revitalization is evident when you see the amount of things to do and see and which is being discovered by customers from across the Inland Northwest.”
