December 14, 2001 SPOKANE, Wash. – Revenues generated by the River Park Square parking garage facility during November topped the same period last year and ranked among the best months ever. November revenues, which totaled $189,000, ranked fourth on the all-time list and the third best this year, representing a one-percent increase over November 2000 revenues. Last month’s revenues boosted year-to-date totals to more than $1.8 million, equaling last year’s total with a month to go. This revenue growth is a 14.92 percent increase over the 11 months of 2000. Month-over-month usage at the facility adjoining the regional shopping, dining and entertainment center was down one percent in November, totaling 74,000 cars. However, traffic picked up significantly after Thanksgiving, kicking off the busy holiday season. Year-to-date usage numbers remain excellent. More than 748,000 cars have parked in the facility through the first 11 months of the year, an 11.54 percent increase over last year. “We are encouraged that River Park Square parking garage facility usage and revenues continue to be strong,” said Bob Robideaux, project director. “The holiday season is our busiest of the year, so we look forward to a robust finish to an outstanding year.” River Park Square and surrounding downtown businesses
serve a regional market of more than 1.7 million people. The new retail
center has generated more than $6.2 million in tax and fee revenues for
the City of Spokane and services located in the city, has created and retained
more than 1,100 jobs, and has served as a catalyst for downtown revitalization.
Since River Park Square opened, nearly $350 million in new downtown construction
projects have been announced or moved forward.
